SO, WHY BUY HAND MADE. ????

If you have never owned or played a professionally hand made acoustic stringed instrument then why buy hand made? Is probably a very important question for you.

And it is a very easy question for any hand maker to answer.

Although the large acoustic guitar building companies make a great looking product they very seldom make a great sounding one.

I would probably say one guitar out of one hundred would only sound like it should. And this is just pure luck.

A great acoustic instrument can not be built in a production environment there are just too many variables involved in the making process for this type ofassembly to work.

Did you know that too much finish on a guitar or acoustic instrument could totally ruin its sound? Well this is exactly what the large production factories do to their instruments.

They spray on so much varnish as to not give them selves’ problems at the polishing stage and this leaves too much finish on the instrument. And it just sounds worse than it should.

I have a test i carry out before every instrument is finished in which i actually measure the amount of finish on my instrument and if there is too much on i sand more off.

Which leaves the instrument more free to move and vibrate. This is only one of the many instances were buying a hand made instrument over a factory made one is a good choice. Because in the world of quality acoustic instruments, it is the little finer points that make a good acoustic instrument excellent.

And the super fast production industry is just too clumsy to deal with the finer points of the job.

So if you buy hand made you will always get a unique one of one (not one of one hundred) instrument which sounds at its maximum potential.
